SpecificityａndComments:

Recognizesa~200kDaglycoprotein（gp200）whichisidentifiedasarenalcellcarcinomamarker.Itsepitoperesidesinthecarbohydratedomainofgp200.Itshowsnosignificantcross-reactivitywithothercarbohydratedeterminants,suchastheLewisbloodgroupantigens,epithelialmembraneantigen,HMFG,ａndABbloodgroupantigens.Innormalkidney,gp200islocalizedalongthebrushborderoftheparsconvolutaａndparsrectasegmentsoftheproximaltubule,aswellasfocallyalongtheluminalsurfaceofBowman＇scapsuleadjoiningtheoutgoingproximaltubule.Ofothernormaltissuesexamined,thegp200isalsolocalizedalongtheluminalsurfacesofbreastlobulesａndducts,theluminalsurfaceoftheepididymaltubularepithelium,withinthecytoplasmofparathyroidparenchymalcells,ａndfocallywithinthecolloidofthyroidfollicles.Thirty-oneothernormaltissuesfailedtoexpresssimilarorcross-reactingantigens.Reportedly,gp200isexpressedby93%ofprimaryａnd84%ofmetastaticrenalcellcarcinomas.Thisantibodymaybeausefulreagentintheinvestigationsofcarcinomasofproximalnephrogenicdifferentiationespeciallythoseshowingtubulardifferentiation.Absenceofreactivitywithalphafetoprotein（AFP）ａndalpha-1-antitrypsinantibodiesａndexclusionofmorphologicalorclinicalcriteriawhichmightotherwiseindicatemetastaticbreastorembryonalcarcinomawouldbefurtherconfirmator.
